I only recognized 3 songs, but still it was not bad.

Not heaven, but ok.

On every cd he has out, he only has 1 or 2 good songs on it...

Florence and the Machine in Ghent.

She was amazing. A very strong, powerful voice ! The easy with which she sings and jumps at the same time is amazing.

Also a great band. I like the bass, the drums.

There were a lot of young girls in the audience. Strange.

The gig was quite short, but that's no surprise as she's only got one cd out.

In the afternoon we saw Florence on the street, but we didn't talk to her.

Florence and the machine were pretty good !

The sound wasn't always that good. Although last time I was in the Vooruit, I saw a great Sophia gig with great sound. Now the guitar didn't come across all that well. But her voice made up for most of the frustration ! What an incredible talent that girl is. I didn't think I would enjoy it that much. A bit short as they only have one cd, but they didn't even play all the songs of it leaving out one of the better ones IMO.

I'm looking forward to their second cd cause the debut is really good (and hyped) that they have to work really hard to convince me their second album is gonna be as good as the first one. Let's see if they succeed in that. But now let's just enjoy that great album Lungs a bit more.

I felt old there.

The only people my age were parents who came to collect their 15 year old daughter after the gig. Confused

We saw Florence in the streets in the afternoon, but didn't talk to her.

She has a lot of energy. And she's also sexy and weird in a Kate Bush kind of way.

I was happy to still see her in a small venue like Vooruit instead of Werchter or Pukkelpop.

I went to see Josh Ritter and The Swell Season yesterday. It was soooo beautiful!

And I had a lovely chat with Josh Ritter, Colm Mac Con Iomaire (violin player) and Glen Hansard afterwards.

What a night!!

Pff, we passed Florence Welch on the street, but we didn't talk to her.
Rolling Eyes

She looked more like a student than an artist.

Tomorrow I'll see Bird (Janie Price), the most talented (solo) female singer songwriter of the past 5 years.

And Brendan Perry will play in Botanique on the 20th of march.

I'm going to both gigs.

Expensive times ! Crying or Very sad

Yesterday I went to see Brendan Perry (ex Dead Can Dance).

It was an amazing 1.5 hour long gig. There was no support act.

Jeroen, you missed something !

Did I ?

I never really listened to Dead can Dance. Wouldn't be able to name you any of their songs. But if you tell me I missed something I'll believe you and say I'll look for it and give it a listen.

Jerbbie, please give Dead Can Dance a chance. They are so amazing!

I've got a Brendan Perry solo album, too, and it is very good. But I like the Dead Can Dance more, as there are (were) two different singers, both really great voices. Not to forget the music...

In my opinion, Brendan is a great composer, but not a great singer.

And Lisa has an amazing voice, but is no songwriter.

The two of them together was pure magic, something I miss in their solo stuff.
